Band Update 10/05/2009

Hello Everyone,

Congratulations to the band for coming home with so many awards this past Saturday. This shows that hard work does pay off.

The band booster meeting scheduled for October 6 has been canceled. It is rescheduled for Tuesday October 20 at 7PM. Please mark your calenders. If you know of anyone in the band that does not get this e-mail please let them know about the meeting change.

Thanks to all who have volunteered in the concession stand at the home football games. If you haven't done your turn please sign up with Belinda Fike. Everyone needs to give her a big thank you, the concession stand has been running very smoothly. THANKS BELINDA!!!

This weekend the band will be traveling to the Black Walnut Festival in Spencer, West Virginia. If you can come out and support the Poca Dot Marching Band.

Everyone should have received their Rada knife orders. If you haven't gotten yours please see Mr. Carroll. In the packages there are papers where those who didn't get to place an order or need to order more can do so online with a code and we get a profit from their order.

Have a great week,

Melinda Sprouse

Band Update 09/29/2009

Hello Everyone,
Thanks to all who helped make our first band competition a success. Mr. Carroll has heard nothing but good remarks from all the bands that participated. Please give yourselves a pat on the back for a job well done. Maybe next year mother nature might be a little kinder to us.

We will be traveling to two band competitions on October 3. As all of you know we feed the students at the competitions. We are in need of snacks and drinks to be donated for this Saturday. We are asking those of you who can to send in snack food such as chips, cookies or anything thing special you think the kids might like. Drinks that we serve them are Gatorade and Water, if you are able to send either one of these in that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance if you can help us with these items.

Lastly we have shirts left over from our band competition. If any one would like to purchase one we are selling the shirts for $5.00 dollars each. You can purchase these from Mr. Carroll.

Again thanks to all the parents for you help,

Melinda Sprouse

Chocolate Jazz

The date/time is Friday Feb 26th starting at 6pm.  We need for parents to bring in chocolate desserts for the event.  They can bring them to the school on Thursday the 25th or during the day on Feb 26th.  I will pick them up and take them to the church.

Any questions about the desserts please email Kelli kldsmith@access.k12.wv.us

Thanks,
Kelli

Band Update 09/14/2009

Congratulations to the Band students for great showmanship at the James Monroe Compettion. This competition has started the competition year and I think with all the hard work that the band puts in we will have many more trophies to show for it.

Just a few reminders that parents need to know.
1. There will be a competition meeting on Tuesday September 15 at 7pm in the band room. We need parents to attend this meeting to sign up to volunteer for the competition. Each band student must have atleast one volunteer at this competition please either come to the meeting and sign up or e-mail Dana Sprouse @ pocabanddad@yahoo.com and let him know that you are available to work the competition. Even if you can only work for and hour during the competition you are needed. Our competiton is Saturday September 26. Starting at 6pm.
2. Rada Knife orders are due in No Later than Wed. September 16. The order will be placed Thursday morning so don't miss out on your opportunity to order. These knives make great gifts.

Thanks to all the parents that helped at the competition on Saturday with chaperones and feeding the students. It is because of the parents we are such a great organization. Cheers to everyone.

Sincerely,
Melinda Sprouse
